CHILD SAFETY TOTAL GRADE: B
harness system
positive reviewsB+
Most of the parents were fine with the design of the five point harness on the Chicco C5, although a small minority complained that the straps were too big for their petite toddlers, which is dangerous if their child is capable of wriggle out of the straps accidentally or on purpose.
maneuvering
positive reviewsB+
Although parents were generally positive about how easy it is to steer the C5, there were a few negative observations: one mother found it didn't steer as reliably or easily as the Maclaren Quest while another parent complained that the stroller brakes scraped on the curb whenever they crossed the street.
sturdiness
positive reviewsB-
From the standpoint of real immediate danger, the Chicco C5 remains above suspicion with no reports of any major breakdowns, but considering the whole design in terms of convenience and comfort, there are some other issues to mention. A majority of parents found the seat back to be flimsy to the point of causing discomfort for their child when seated in the stroller a small percentage also noted that the rain canopy is flimsy and not even designed to adequately cover toddler-length legs!
