CHILD SAFETY TOTAL GRADE: B-
harness system
positive reviewsB-
Depending on the model, the Combi Twin Savvy features either a three point (older models) or five point harness system. Several parents complained that both systems were difficult to fasten and unfasten, and two reviewers noted that: (1) the harness can spontaneously come undone, and (2) their own child was able to undo the harness on the older model. On the other hand, many parents felt that the harness system was effective at keeping their child securely in their seat.
maneuvering
positive reviewsB-
Although some parents found this double stroller easy to maneuver, there were a number of complaints regarding steering, the turning radius, and the wheels. Specifically, (1) a quarter of the reviewers felt that the wheels were simply too small, (2)others mentioned that the turning radius was rather wide, and (3) two reviewers found that the stroller had a tendency to veer to one side or the other. Still, most parents appreciated the fact that the Twin Savvy 31 inch width fits through most standard doorways.
sturdiness
positive reviewsC+
The older plastic models of the Combi Twin Savvy retain a known design flaw: the center bar that supports the folding handles has a high probability of snapping. The more recent models, although made of aluminum, still build the bar out of plastic, and continue to demonstrate this "snapping tendancy." More than one reviewer noted that the Combi Twin Savvy broke down multiple times: including having a wheel snap off. Finally, their newest models have been built with a reinforced steel bar that runs across the back and according to their sales representatives, retains a complaint free report card, at least regarding the bar snapping.
