BASIC FEATURES
folding and stowing
Collapsing in your arms: These days, most double strollers can fold down fairly easily and some supposedly only need one-hand to be folded (we'll believe it when we see it). Even though most stroller manufacturers have come up with clever mechanisms that make the stroller somewhat compact once folded many parents still find the folding counter-intuitive at the beginning. To avoid attacking your new double stroller in a frustrated fit: painstakingly read the instructions as most folding mechanisms tend to have a learning curve!
There are known instances where a double stroller's folding mechanism has actually compromised the chassis, so look for reinforced components that snap or lock into place when opened to prevent spontaneous folding while your children are seated in the stroller. A nice additional feature: locking components to secure the stroller once it's folded down.
Packing it in: It should be no surprise that even if they do fold down it is rarely as compact as you'd like-especially if you have a compact car or small apartment. Whatever your vehicle or closet space, you'll want to ensure you have enough space to stow your double stroller-before you buy it. Also, if you tend to spend a lot of time in your vehicle, you're going to want a lighter double baby stroller (under 20 lbs) or you're going to be cursing your stroller every time you lift it in and out of your vehicle.
