Although single umbrella strollers are classically defined as the most basic and lightweight strollers on the market (under 15 pounds), what makes a double umbrella stroller an umbrella stroller has become increasingly difficult to categorize as the prices demonstrate: starting at a mere $15 and topping out at well over $200!
The drastic price variations can be largely attributed to the quality of individual design elements and the labor intensive aspects that may or may not be present in the manufacturing process, which inevitably contribute to the overall durability, innovation, and luxury of a particular double umbrella stroller.
For example, some strollers are rather expensive because they are much more than a basic umbrella stroller: with plenty of storage, and seating that can accommodate newborn infants, as well as being constructed from high quality lightweight yet durable materials and components. But keep in mind that respected stroller brands have additional cause to elevate their prices beyond the stroller's manufactured value simply because the name backing the stroller carries intrinsic monetary value.
