CHILD SAFETY TOTAL GRADE: B+
harness system
positive reviewsB
All in all, the five point harness system and added belly bar on the Safari were both reviewed as effective and safe for children over 12 weeks of age. Even so, a few parents noted that it was still quite loose on their more petite children and had to be pinned to keep them securely fastened in their seat.
maneuvering
positive reviewsA-
Parents loved the lockable front swivel wheel on the Safari, which essentially allows this stroller to be both a jogging stroller (locked) or an everyday stroller (swivel) that can turn on a dime. Additionally, the front wheel of the stroller is a bit smaller than other jogging strollers, making it easier to maneuver when wheeling it through the narrow aisles of stores. Every single parent found it was easy to push and steer, even one-handed! The one weakness of the Safari is in its brake design: there is no hand-brake, instead it is a simple foot-activated friction lock with no option for slowing the stroller prior to stopping.
sturdiness
positive reviewsB+
The Safari was fairly highly reviewed for sturdiness, although there were some relevant issues which lowered its overall grade in this important category. After a year of use, one reviewer noted that the front wheel would wobble when it wasn't locked. Also, a few parents felt that the child tray was rather flimsy. On the other hand, some reviewers really enjoyed the solid plastic feel of the child tray.
