Phil and Teds E3 Explorer

CONVENIENCE TOTAL GRADE: A-

A

For it's functional versatility and durability, the E3 is assuredly the lightest stroller in its category: a double all-terrain stroller that weighs only 21 lbs. This easily falls into the category of the lighter weight double umbrella strollers. As a general rule, parents felt that the Explorer was of an acceptable weight, although a few parents still felt it was a bit heavy.

The E3 is reported by 92% of owners to fold up quite easily. This is especially true if you purchase the 2004 version, as they have modified the second seat to be easier to attach and remove. For the previous year models, there were a small number of complaints against the instruction manual and it's lack of clarity. Also, the stroller does lack a latch to keep in closed when folded up.

In terms of bulk, when folded, this stroller can fit easily into the back of a compact car as reported by the happy owners of Ford Escorts and VW's.

Although the material isn't removable, the Explorer's fabric wipes up quite easily.

storage options
positive reviews
B+

A common complaint against the Explorer is the inevitable fact that when the second seat is attached, the storage basket becomes quite difficult to access. That said, there are several different storage options sold separately including a travel bag, pannier bags, and a backpack.
