BASIC FEATURES
folding and stowing
Collapsing in your arms: By definition, an umbrella stroller folds rather like an umbrella and should do so with the greatest of ease. In general, most models do fold down fairly easily-many one-handed, although many disgruntled parents would contest that statement the first time they get the stroller out of the box. Even though most stroller manufacturers have come up with very clever and innovational folding mechanisms to make their stroller remarkably compact once folded, many parents still find these folding mechanisms counter-intuitive at first blush. So save yourself some time and frustration and carefully read the instructions.
In terms of the overall integrity of the umbrella stroller, the folding mechanism can either compromise the chassis or not. Look for reinforced joints that snap or lock into place when open and also locking devices to keep the stroller folded when you've collapsed it down to prevent any sort of obnoxious and/or painful injuries to little (and big) fingers.
Packing it in: You've got a nice light little umbrella stroller, hopefully, your stroller will also have one of those convenient carry handles (and if you're really crazy a stroller bag!), and you're good to go. Just make sure you don't break it when you throw it in the back of your vehicle!
